Palaniswami is coasting along with the support of PMK in Edappadi
Edappadi K. Palaniswami, general secretary of the AIADMK, is seeking a sixth consecutive victory in his native constituency, which has historically been a stronghold for the party. The constituency, located 50 km from Salem city, comprises Edappadi taluk, portions of Mettur taluk, Konganapuram, Nangavalli and Jalakandapuram town panchayats, with significant populations of farmers and weavers. The DMK won in 1967 and 1971, followed by the AIADMK's seven consecutive wins, including five for Palaniswami. The PMK also won in 2001, while the Congress secured victories in 1952 and 1984.
