Prominent candidates in Chennai file nomination papers, set out to canvass votes
Several candidates filed their nomination papers for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election on Monday, April 6, 2026. Piyush Goyal, accompanied by members of the BJP and AIADMK, supported Tamilisai Soundararajan's bid for the Mylapore Taluk office. B. Valarmathi, former Minister and AIADMK candidate for Thousand Lights, highlighted civic grievances in the constituency. Aassan Maulaana, Congress candidate for Velachery, will face off against M.K. Ashok of the AIADMK. Ma. Subramanian, Health Minister and DMK candidate for Saidapet, conducted door-to-door campaigns. Kanimozhi, DMK deputy general secretary and MP, campaigned in various constituencies.
