India to engage new government of Bangladesh constructively, to deepen ties, says Jaishankar

India and Bangladesh agreed to deepen bilateral ties after a meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the new Bangladesh government delegation led by Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kobir. The two sides discussed strengthening their relationship, regional and global developments, and agreed to explore proposals for deepening the partnership through bilateral mechanisms. They also addressed security concerns, with Bangladesh reaffirming its commitment not to allow its soil to be used against Indian interests and pledging not to seek security pacts with other countries.
