R. Gandhi, Tamil Nadu Handlooms Minister, filed his nomination for the upcoming Assembly election in Ranipet after his son withdrew his candidacy following a decision by DMK leadership to deny him a ticket. The DMK president and Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, had initially nominated Vinod Gandhi, Mr. Gandhi's son, but he stepped aside to allow his father to contest.
