The Supreme Court will resume hearing a review petition filed by Imran Khan, challenging the closure of his right to defense in a defamation case brought by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The three-judge bench, headed by Justice Ayesha A. Malik, will consider the petition on April 7th after previous rulings by different benches had adjourned proceedings. The review petition stems from a February 2023 Supreme Court decision that found Khan's conduct during trial to be contumacious and disobedient. The case dates back to 2017 when Sharif filed the defamation suit, alleging that Khan defamed him.
