
Kerala election 2026: State election commission seeks report on charges of fake Aadhaar cards in Payyannur
Kerala’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rathan U Kelkar has initiated an investigation into allegations of fake Aadhaar card fabrication in Payyannur, Kannur to potentially facilitate bogus voting. The KPCC, along with the complaint, alleges widespread duplicate vote inclusion in the Payyanur and Kalliyasseri Assembly constituencies. K.C. Venugopal, AICC general secretary, publicly accused the CPI(M) of reviving "old tactics" including bogus voting, claiming evidence exists to support his claims. Following these allegations, the KPCC formally approached the Election Commission prompting the CEO's investigation.
