The recent firebombing of four ambulances owned by a Jewish charity in Golders Green, north London, has renewed concerns about Iran's use of terror against dissidents and Jewish communities. Prince Shahriar Shafiq, the last Shah of Iran’s 34-year-old nephew, was shot twice in the head outside his mother’s home in Paris in 1979; Gen Gholam Ali Oveisi, the Shah's final commander-in-chief, was also shot dead in Paris in 1984. Mohsen Rafighdoost, former minister of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has been linked to these assassinations and admitted to ordering their executions. Experts believe Iran is increasingly using criminal gangs as proxies for carrying out attacks, citing a growing trend of such activity by Iran in recent years.
