Karnataka bypolls: CM, DyCM, Union Ministers accompany party nominees; 58 in all file nominations
Congress and BJP nominees filed nomination papers for the byelections to Davangere South and Bagalkot Assembly constituencies before the deadline on Monday. A total of 19 candidates filed 26 sets of nomination papers for the Bagalkot seat, while 39 candidates filed 45 sets for the Davangere South seat. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and other ministers accompanied the Congress nominees in Davangere South, while former Chief Ministers B.S. Yediyurappa and Jagadish Shettar, along with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra, accompanied the BJP nominees. The bypolls are necessitated due to the demise of former Ministers H.Y. Meti and Shamanur Shivashankarappa, and polling will be held on April 9.
