Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar can remain in office for the next six months despite being elected to the Rajya Sabha, according to Bihar Rural Development Minister Sharwan Kumar. Kumar will resign from his seat in the Bihar Legislative Council within 14 days. The decision on his successor is expected to be made soon, with Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary considered a frontrunner by some prominent figures including Jitan Ram Manjhi, Union Minister and founder of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular). The ongoing Samriddhi Yatra will continue in the coming weeks.
