Assam Assembly elections 2026: Pradyut factor in Congress’s third list of candidates

The Congress released its third list of 22 candidates for the April 9 Assembly elections, dropping Sibamoni Bora and re-nominating MLA Aftab Uddin Mollah. Ms. Bora was previously a Congress candidate who defeated Angoorlata Deka, a BJP heavyweight, in 2021. The AGP announced its final list of 26 candidates, including turncoat MLAs Karim Uddin Barbhuiya and Zakir Hussain Laskar from the AIUDF. The AIUDF released its third list of five candidates, bringing their total to 27.
