NC, PDP spar over Bill pertaining to land rights in J&K

Ruling National Conference (NC) legislator Tanvir Sadiq submitted a private member's bill, the J&K Land Grants (Restoration and Protection) Bill, 2025, to the J&K Assembly aiming to restore land rights for economically weaker sections. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Waheed ul Rehman Para criticized the NC's proposed bill, arguing it would benefit the elite while neglecting the plight of poor families facing eviction under the Land Grant Rules 2022. Para called for halting demolition drives and urged the government to address the issue of land ownership rights for those residing on grazing reserves, nazool land, and forest land.
