Iran lets 2 India-flagged gas tankers sail through Strait of Hormuz, insiders say

India has secured exemptions from Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing two Indian-flagged liquefied petroleum gas tankers to pass through. The vessels, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, are owned by the Shipping Corp of India and were escorted by the Indian Navy. India has also provided safe harbor for 183 Iranian sailors who were on a vessel that docked after the war broke out. This move comes as India faces its worst gas crisis in decades, with the government cutting supplies to protect households from shortages.
