Youm-i-Ali procession taken out in Karachi amid strict security - Pakistan
Karachi authorities implemented strict security measures for Youm-i-Ali, the day commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali, by closing several major roads including M.A. Jinnah Road and M.T. Khan Road due to security concerns. The main procession departed from Nishtar Park with Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Farrukh Ali present, and a total of 22,304 police personnel were deployed across the city. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar ordered extra security measures at religious gatherings, including imambargahs and mosques. A public holiday was also declared for Friday (March 13) in observance of Youm Al Quds.
