Committed to protecting the Aravalli hills, says Bhupender Yadav

Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav stated that the Union Government is committed to conserving the Aravalli ranges during a Rajya Sabha debate. He accused the previous Congress government in Rajasthan of encouraging illegal mining, which led to the Supreme Court taking action. The government has banned illegal mining in Delhi, Faridabad and Gurugram and is considering a High Powered Committee on the matter. Mr. Yadav also highlighted increased protected areas and wildlife reserves under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including an increase in tiger, elephant, and Asiatic lion populations. He attributed these conservation efforts to the government's commitment to tackling pollution through regulations on construction waste, electronic waste, fly ash disposal, and single-use plastics.
