Special cabinet to discuss internal quota on March 27
The Karnataka government will hold a special cabinet meeting on March 27th to discuss the implementation of internal reservation within the 15% quota for Scheduled Castes, following inconclusive discussions in the previous cabinet. Dalit Ministers remain divided over the issue with the Dalit left (Madigas) demanding internal reservation and Dalit right (Holeyas) opposing it. G. Kumar Naik, an MP from Raichur, has written to Virendra Kumar, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, urging him to initiate action on a 2022 Act that provides for higher reservation percentages for SCs and STs.
