Why does India require U.S. nod for securing its energy needs, ask Opposition leaders

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin criticized the United States for allowing India to import Russian oil, questioning why India needs approval from another country for its energy needs. Stalin also raised concerns about the sinking of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Dena after it participated in an Indian naval exercise. Several opposition leaders, including CPI(M) leader John Brittas and RJD MP Manoj K. Jha, accused the government of surrendering India's sovereignty to the United States and demanded a strong protest against the remarks made by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
