Congress demands short duration discussion on West Asia conflict in Parliament

The Congress has demanded a full-fledged discussion on the West Asian situation during the Budget session, asserting that a suo motu statement by the government is insufficient. Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in-charge communications, criticized the Modi government's handling of the situation, citing India's diminished global standing and its perceived subservience to the US and Israel. He highlighted issues like the US submarine attack on an Iranian warship, the ongoing conflict between Iran and Gulf countries, and India's economic dependence on remittances from the region. The second phase of the Budget session begins March 9th and will run until April 2nd.
