Court orders framing charges against Farooq Abdullah, others in JKCA ‘scam’ case
Abuse of power allegations against a former Chief Minister warrant urgent attention.
A local court in Srinagar has ordered the framing of charges against Farooq Abdullah and other accused in the alleged Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) scam case. The court, however, rejected an application by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to be made a party in the case, stating that the ED lacks "locus standi" and its application was vague. The court ruled that the essential ingredients of the offenses under sections 120-B, 406, and 409 of the Ranbir Penal Code were prima facie established against the accused, leading to their potential charges for these offenses. The case will be listed on March 12th for further proceedings.
