
Taranjit Singh Sandhu: Who is the new L.G. of Delhi?
Taranjit Singh Sandhu was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi by President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday (March 5, 2026). He will replace Vinai Kumar Saxena. A former diplomat with over 35 years of experience in the Indian Foreign Service, Sandhu served as India's Ambassador to the United States and held various diplomatic positions including Deputy Chief of Mission and First Secretary (Political) to the U.S. He also served as the High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Consul General in Frankfurt. After retiring from the Foreign Service, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
