K.P. Unnikrishnan, ex-Union Minister and senior Congress leader, passes away

K.P. Unnikrishnan, a former Union Minister and senior Congress leader, passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday (March 3, 2026). He represented the Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala for over two decades, representing three political parties during his tenure. Unnikrishnan also served as a Union Minister under V.P. Singh's Cabinet, where he played a crucial role in evacuating over 1.5 lakh Indians from Kuwait during the Gulf War. He is survived by his wife Amrita and daughters.
