NGT issues notices to Centre, M.P. govt over clearances to Adani Group’s coal block in Singrauli
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued notices to the Central and Madhya Pradesh Governments regarding environmental clearances granted for the Adani Group's coal block in Singrauli district. Environmental activist Ajay Dubey filed two petitions challenging the approvals, one concerning tree felling and another alleging a proposed elephant corridor within the area. The NGT directed the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, National Board for Wildlife, and the Forest Department of Madhya Pradesh to respond to the petitions by a specific date. Mr. Dubey alleges that the project's approval is being delayed to facilitate tree felling and other operations in the area.
