In Andhra city, a morning staple turns deadly

A milk vendor, Addala Ganeswararao, has been arrested for allegedly adulterating milk supplied to 106 families in Rajamahendravaram city, leading to the deaths of five people and hospitalizations for others. The contaminated milk caused acute renal failure in those who consumed it, with symptoms including anuria (cessation of urine output) and vomiting. Dr. Kirthi Chekuri, East Godavari District Collector, deployed Rapid Response Teams and set up medical camps to address the situation. The investigation is ongoing, but preliminary findings indicate that the dairy unit was operating without prescribed food safety protocols.
