Mallikarjun Mutya, a 30-year-old man from the Mahal Roja Mutt in Yadgir district, Karnataka, was booked under the POCSO Act after a video of him allegedly misbehaving with a minor girl went viral. The incident occurred on February 19 at the mutt, which is located around 16 km from Shahapur. Mallanna Umapathi, a Child Development Project Officer, lodged a complaint following an inquiry by the District Child Welfare Committee, which found prima facie evidence of the accused's intentional touching of the girl. The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) also registered a suo moto case and directed the police to investigate.
