Modi’s Israel visit: Balancing strategic ties amid West Bank tensions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Israel to discuss further opportunities in various areas of cooperation, including science and technology. The visit follows India's recent alignment with over 100 countries at the United Nations in criticizing Israel’s moves in the West Bank. The relationship between India and Israel, established in 1992, has deepened significantly over the past decade across defense, trade, technology and labor mobility. Bilateral trade has experienced fluctuations due to war-related disruptions but remains significant, with India maintaining a trade surplus with Israel since 2014-15. The partnership also includes migration and mobility, with Indian workers increasingly employed in construction roles in Israel.
