R. Nallakannu, veteran CPI leader from Tamil Nadu no more
R. Nallakannu, a 101-year-old veteran Communist Party of India (CPI) leader and freedom fighter from Tamil Nadu, died on Wednesday afternoon at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai after a prolonged illness. He was the only surviving member of the Nellai Conspiracy Case and is survived by two daughters. The hospital superintendent confirmed that his organs failed despite treatment and he passed away at 1:55 p.m. His body will be brought to Balan Illam for public viewing.
