BJP sees conspiracy behind MLA’s arrest
Allegations of bribery against an MLA are being dismissed by party leaders and contractors.
Lokayukta Police took Shirahatti MLA Chandru Lamani, who was arrested for accepting a bribe of ₹5 lakh, to Bengaluru for court appearance. Vishwanath Patil, president of the Gadag District Contractors Association, refuted the allegations against the MLA, stating that he is a supportive leader and the government owes contractors large amounts in pending bills. BJP leaders Basavaraj Chakrasali and Fakiresh Rattihali accused Congress leaders like H.K. Patil of orchestrating the arrest, claiming it's part of a conspiracy to trap the MLA.
