
MLA Chandru Lamani remanded in judicial custody till March 3
An elected official being arrested for bribery is a serious abuse of power.
Dr. Chandru Lamani, a BJP MLA from Shirahatti, was arrested by the Lokayukta Police in Gadag district on Friday for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹11 lakh from a contractor. He was produced before a special court and remanded in judicial custody until March 3rd. The Lokayukta Police also arrested his personal assistant, Manjunath Valmiki, and associate, Guru Naik, who were also remanded in judicial custody. The bribe was allegedly paid at Dr. Lamani's private hospital where ₹5 lakh was seized during the raid.
