Allegations of abuse of power and misuse of funds for electoral gains are serious concerns.
T.T.V. Dhinakaran, leader of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), criticized O. Panneerselvam and MLA Ayyappan for allegedly harming the reputations of former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa. Dhinakaran accused the DMK government, led by Amit Shah, of distributing ₹5,000 to win elections through money and diverting funds meant for Adi Dravidars and Tribals. He also alleged that the government was trying to protect Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru in a corruption case.
