Madras High Court orders registration of case on cash-for-jobs complaint in T.N. Minister K.N. Nehru’s Municipal Administration Department
Allegations of a cash-for-jobs scheme within a government department raise serious concerns about corruption and abuse of power.
The Madras High Court ordered the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to register a case based on materials shared by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in October 2025, alleging a cash-for-jobs scheme within the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) department led by Minister K.N. Nehru. The court's decision came after an appeal from AIADMK Rajya Sabha member I.S. Inbadurai, who sought an FIR. The State government and the DVAC argued that the materials shared by the ED were sufficient for a preliminary inquiry, but the ED Special Public Prosecutor N. Ramesh insisted on immediate registration of an FIR.
