
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri holds talks with Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman
Vikram Misri, India's Foreign Secretary, met with Shafiqur Rahman, the leader of opposition in Bangladesh and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, on the sidelines of the swearing-in ceremony for new Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. They discussed strong bilateral ties and a shared civilisational bond. Om Birla, Lok Sabha Speaker of India, also attended the ceremony and expressed support for Bangladesh's democratic development. He invited Mr. Rahman to visit India and conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended an invitation to Mr. Rahman to visit India at a mutually convenient time, along with his family members.
