Ugrappa urges CM Siddaramaiah to take all-party delegation to Centre on inclusion of reservation act in Ninth Schedule
V.S. Ugrappa, former MP, urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take an all-party delegation to the Centre to appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inclusion of the Karnataka Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutes and Appointments) Act, 2022, in the Ninth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The act increased reservation for SCs and STs but has not been implemented because it hasn't been included in the Ninth Schedule, which protects specific laws from judicial review. Ugrappa questioned the silence of BJP leaders on this issue, including former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and current state president B.Y. Vijayendra, urging them to advocate for its inclusion.
