Bangladesh’s BNP wins sweeping election majority, promises stability
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won a landslide victory in the 13th general election, securing at least 212 seats. The party's win is expected to bring stability to the country after months of unrest following the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Tarique Rahman, leader of the BNP, is widely expected to be sworn in as prime minister. Jamaat-i-Islami, a key opposition party, conceded defeat but expressed dissatisfaction with the process.
