
Defence Acquisition Council clears proposal to buy 114 Rafale fighter jets
The Defence Acquisition Council has approved a proposal to purchase 114 Rafale fighter jets from France’s Dassault Aviation. The deal, which will bring the total number of Rafale aircraft in India to 176, includes 18 fly-away jets for immediate operational needs and the remaining 96 to be manufactured in India. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, must still approve the procurement.
