Ahead of March 31 deadline, Odisha revises surrender and rehabilitation scheme for surrendering Maoists

The Odisha government has announced revised financial incentives for the mainstreaming of individuals involved in Maoist activities, regardless of their location. The scheme provides a substantial reward to surrendered left-wing extremists (LWEs), including those who are not native to the state, with varying amounts depending on their rank and involvement level. This follows a November 2022 revision by the Union Home Ministry that increased financial incentives for surrendering LWEs. The government aims to reduce Maoist activities in the state by March 31, 2026.
