
Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil gets anticipatory bail by HC in first rape case
Allegations of rape and forced abortion are serious crimes warranting urgent attention.
Rahul Mamkootathil, the expelled Congress leader and Palakkad MLA, was granted anticipatory bail by the Kerala High Court in a case of alleged rape and forced abortion. The court ordered him to appear for interrogation on February 16th and surrender his mobile phone. The investigation can last three days, from 10 am to 4 pm each day. If the investigating officer intends to arrest him, he must execute a bail bond of ₹1 lakh. Mamkootathil also cannot contact the alleged victim or witnesses, nor leave Kerala. The court reserved its verdict on the matter.
