Workshop on bonded labour system: Judges call for putting an end to the inhuman practice

Shivamogga Principal District and Sessions Judge Manjunath G.A. expressed concern over the continued existence of bonded labor despite a 1976 law abolishing it, highlighting its prevalence in various regions like Bengaluru and Mysuru. Mr. Manjunath stated that this inhumane practice persists due to poverty, illiteracy, debt traps, and lack of awareness. District Legal Services Authority member-secretary M.S. Santhosh noted the absence of such cases in Shivamogga over the past decade.
