BJP claims Union govt. has put metro fare hike on hold; BMRCL says no such direction
BJP leaders Tejasvi Surya and R. Ashok claimed that Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar intervened to halt the implementation of revised Namma Metro fares scheduled for February 9th. However, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) stated they have not received any communication from the Union government regarding this claim. The issue has created confusion about whether the new fares will come into effect on Monday as planned or not. The State government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, maintains that it was not consulted on the fare revision and blames the Union government for the situation.
