BJP names Tarun Chugh as observer for Legislature Party leader election in Manipur
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Tarun Chugh as central observer for the election of the Legislature Party leader in Manipur. The BJP is holding meetings with its MLAs and alliance partners, including the National People’s Party (NPP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF), in New Delhi to discuss the upcoming political developments. The Kuki-Zo insurgent groups are expected to meet with Adviser (Northeast) A.K Mishra on Tuesday to discuss the ground rules of their suspension of operations agreement with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Manipur government. The goal is to restore an elected government in Manipur, which was suspended following the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in February 2025.
