‘Roy sought time to talk to mother and shot himself in adjoining room’
C.J. Roy, founder and chairman of Confident Group, based in Dubai, died by suicide at his office in Bengaluru on Friday afternoon while under investigation by Income Tax officials. His brother, Babu C.J., said that the raids may have contributed to his brother's decision. Mohammed Nalpad, a Congress leader, described Roy as a "father figure" and expressed shock at his death. Roy was found with a gunshot wound to the chest after allegedly shooting himself in an adjoining room where he served as Honorary Consul for the Slovak Republic.
