Ajit Pawar: Grief and shock over politician's death in plane crash
Ajit Pawar, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra state, and four others died in a plane crash at Baramati airport on Wednesday morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led tributes to the 66-year-old politician, calling his death "shocking and saddening." The aviation regulator launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra's chief minister, declared three days of mourning in the state and described Pawar's death as a "tremendous loss." Sanjay Raut, from the opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) party, called Pawar's death a "dark day" for Maharashtra.
