Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and four others were killed in a plane crash near Baramati on Wednesday morning. The Bombardier Learjet 45 aircraft carrying Pawar and other passengers crashed shortly after takeoff from Mumbai at approximately 8:10 am. The incident occurred as the plane was attempting to land near Baramati, where Pawar was scheduled to address public meetings for the upcoming zilla parishad elections. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
