Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil gets bail in third rape case
An elected official faces multiple rape allegations and is granted bail, raising concerns about justice.
Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil was granted bail by the District and Sessions Court in Pathanamthitta after his bail plea was approved. The court had previously reserved its order following concerns about digital evidence presented by the defense, who argued that the relationship with the complainant was consensual. Mr. Mamkootathil, who has been lodged at Mavelikkara sub-jail since January 11, is facing three rape cases filed by different women. The High Court will consider his anticipatory bail plea in the first case on Wednesday.
