Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and leader of the NCP, was killed along with four others when a Learjet 45 aircraft carrying them crashed in Baramati, Pune district. The incident occurred during an attempt to land at the airport, according to the DGCA. Mr. Pawar, known affectionately as "Dada," had been traveling from Mumbai to participate in a rally in Baramati.
