Sivankutty sparks a political row by demanding that SIT question Sonia Gandhi in Sabarimala gold theft case
V. Sivankutty, General Education Minister and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), called for an investigation into Sonia Gandhi, the Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, after photographs surfaced showing her hosting prime suspects in the Sabarimala gold theft case. He argued that the proximity of the suspects to Ms. Gandhi at her residence indicated a potential conspiracy and demanded that the SIT question her. The CPI(M) general secretary, M.A. Baby, stated that the party was not accusing Ms. Gandhi directly but pointed out that the Congress leadership brought the suspects to her doorstep. V.D. Satheesan, the Leader of the Opposition, criticized Mr. Sivankutty's remarks as a reflection of the government's desperation and accused him of hypocrisy given his past behavior.
