Nation honours V.S. Achuthanandan with Padma Vibhushan
V.S. Achuthanandan, the former Chief Minister of Kerala and communist icon, has been posthumously awarded India's second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan. His son, V.S. Arun Kumar, expressed gratitude for the recognition of his father's lifelong contributions to public service. Achuthanandan served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly for 15 years and was a prominent figure in shaping the CPI(M)'s ideology and organizational direction. He also held Cabinet rank as the chairperson of the State Administrative Reforms Commission from 2016 to 2021.
