High command to drive BJP’s electioneering for Bengaluru civic polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Ram Madhav, a key strategist, to oversee the party's campaign and ticket distribution for the upcoming Bengaluru civic polls. This decision reflects internal disarray within the state unit and a lack of confidence in local leadership, including B.Y. Vijayendra, the current State president. Despite forming governments in Karnataka twice and winning majorities in the municipality, the high command has opted for an experienced figure like Madhav to prevent factions from dominating ticket distribution. This move comes after dissidence within the party's Bengaluru region, with leaders like R. Ashok, the Leader of Opposition, facing opposition from various quarters.
