1984 anti-Sikh riots: Delhi court acquits Sajjan Kumar in Vikaspuri, Janakpuri violence case

Sajjan Kumar, a former Congress MP, was acquitted by a Delhi court on Thursday of charges related to inciting violence during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The special judge orally pronounced the order, with a reasoned judgment pending. Kumar had previously been convicted in another case for the killings of five people in Delhi's Palam Colony area during the riots and is currently serving a life sentence. The Nanavati Commission, which investigated the violence, reported that over 240 FIRs were closed as "untraced" and 250 cases resulted in acquittals.
