India, E.U. agree to sign security and defence partnership next week: Kaja Kallas

India and the European Union agreed to sign a new Security and Defence Partnership next week during a visit by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Antonio Costa, President of the European Council. The partnership will cover maritime security, cybersecurity, and counterterrorism. The leaders will co-chair the 16th India-E.U. Summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and aim to finalize a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and a Security of Information Agreement. The visit is centered around strengthening economic ties and addressing geopolitical challenges, including the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and tensions between Europe and the United States.
