West Bengal SIR shows ‘logical discrepancies’ that defy scientific possibilities: EC to Supreme Court
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has flagged "logical discrepancies" in the West Bengal electoral roll, citing instances with unusually high numbers of children linked to electors. The ECI argues these discrepancies are scientifically impossible and require further verification. The ECI conducted a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in West Bengal, which involved 80,681 BLOs, 7,000+ AEROs, 294 EROs, and 4,000+ micro-observers. The ECI has stated that only mappings found to be incorrect or suffering from grave irregularities will be scrutinized. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case on January 21st.
