Rape case: Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil’s bail plea rejected, to remain in jail

Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil was denied bail by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Thiruvalla, remaining in jail under remand. The judge dismissed his application after a hearing where he argued that his relationship with the NRI woman was consensual and procedures were not followed during his arrest. The MLA is expected to file an appeal for bail at the sessions court on Monday.
